Aaliyah
Dana Haughton was born Jan. 16, 1979 in Brooklyn, NY.
Her name, which is Swahili for the highest most exalted
one, the best, would foreshadow her amazing
career.
In 1994,
when Aaliyah was on 14, she released her debut album Age
Ain't Nothing But A Number. Spawning the hit
singles Back & Forth, a No. 1 R&B song & Top
5 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 and At Your Best (You Are
Loved) , the album was an instant success. Her follow-up
album, One In A Million, went
multi-platinum thanks to the signature syncopated beats
of a then-unknown producer named Timbaland.
Aaliyah
made her stunning motion picture debut in Romeo Must
Die, Best Video From A Film. In 2001, Aaliyah
released the critically acclaimed Aaliyah
featuring the hit songs We Need A Resolution , More Than
A Woman and Rock The Boat.
For all
of her fans that miss her dearly, we hope you enjoy
these photos as much as we enjoy posting them in her
memory.
