Biography
The Queens born and bred Lea has taken R&B by storm with her guest spot on Lil
Flip’s “Sunshine”. The sexy songstress has helped make “Sunshine” #1 on BET’s 106
and Park, and MTV’s Direct Effect. The song is also #2 on the Billboard top 100 chart,
reaching a radio audience of over 114 million, certifying it as 2004’s summer anthem.
Though Lea is a fresh face to R&B audiences, her love of singing began as a child
splitting time between Queens and Brownsville Brooklyn. At the age of four, she
would sing along to the latest songs on the radio, sometimes performing classics by
Debarge, New Edition, Whitney Houston or Lisa Lisa. During her teen years she
worked odd jobs to make ends meet. However, juggling jobs didn’t satisfy her desire
to sing. She then pursued her music career searching for a connection in the music
industry. Lea was determined to make her mark in music. Like all stars, her hard work
and perseverance paid off when she ran into a little luck in the form of the man who
would bring out her potential as an artist. Sandy Lal, the executive producer of Lil
Flip’s album U Gotta Feel Me and the head of the newly minted Kingpin Entertainment
Group gave Lea one shot to show what she could do. During an impromptu talent
show in front of his office she sang for him and the bond was instant. She blew him
away and Lal signed her to his label soon after.
The relationship between Kingpin Entertainment and Lea has allowed her to develop
her artistry as a singer with openness and creativity. The commitment and dedication
of Sandy Lal and the Kingpin staff is evident on the pairing of her with Lil Flip, making
“Sunshine” an incredible success, and is also proof positive on her album. With over
a half a million mobile ring tones sold and a credible street buzz, her
first quarter debut will definitely be a solid success.
