LIL'
KIM JUMPS BACK WITH "THE JUMP OFF"; TIMBALAND-PRODUCED
SINGLE
FEATURING MR. CHEEKS; NEW ALBUM, "LA BELLA MAFIA,"
DUE MARCH 4th
Queen
Bee/Big Entertainment/Atlantic recording artist Lil' Kim
returns to the musical forefront with the release of her
eagerly awaited new single, "The Jump Off." Produced
by Timbaland (Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, Jay-Z, Ginuwine), the
track - which features former Lost Boyz frontman, Mr. Cheeks -
marks the first new Lil' Kim solo music in nearly three
years.
"The
Jump Off" sets the stage for the release of Kim's new
album, "LA BELLA MAFIA," which is slated to be in
stores on March 4th. The collection - which follows 2000's
RIAA platinum-certified "THE NOTORIOUS K.I.M." -
sees the Grammy Award-winning diva joined by such esteemed
guests as Missy Elliot, Styles P, Governor, Twista, and
Mashonda Tifere, with beats and grooves created by some of
today's hottest producers, including Timbaland, DJ Twinz (Mystikal,
Redman), EZ Elpee (Mobb Deep, Noreaga), Havoc (Nas, Mobb
Deep), Scott Storch (The Roots, Busta Rhymes), Kanye West
(Jay-Z, Talib Kweli), and Swizz Beatz (Mary J. Blige, DMX,
Ruff Ryders). With "LA BELLA MAFIA," Lil' Kim
confirms her status as a multi-faceted superstar with
unlimited potential, a hip-hop icon whose irresistible persona
looms larger than ever before.
High-profile
features in a variety of national publications, including
Vogue and Nylon, will herald the release of "LA BELLA
MAFIA." In addition, Lil' Kim has appeared on the covers
of recent issues of The Source, One World, XXL, and
Sister2Sister.
Lil' Kim
first stepped into the world's spotlight as part of the late
Notorious B.I.G.'s rap collective Junior M.A.F.I.A., in which
she was the lone female member. Her thugged-out Betty Boop
delivery on tracks such as "Player's Anthem" and
"Get Money" helped propel Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s 1995
RIAA gold certified Big Beat/Atlantic debut,
"CONSPIRACY," into the top 10 on the Billboard 200,
and established Kim as Bonnie to Biggie's Clyde. In 1996, Kim
unleashed her classic Undeas/Big Beat/Atlantic debut solo
collection, "HARD CORE." Featuring backing from
producers such as Sean "Puffy" Combs, Jermaine Dupri
and Prestige, the album quickly earned RIAA double-platinum
certification, and confirmed the brazen and provocative Kim as
the reigning Queen of Hip Hop.
2000's
"THE NOTORIOUS K.I.M" saw Lil' Kim's star continue
to rise as she graced the covers of such magazines as The
Source, XXL, Interview, and Vibe. In 2001, Lil' Kim teamed
with Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya, and Missy Elliot for the
blockbuster remake of "Lady Marmalade" found on the
soundtrack to the hit film, Moulin Rouge. The track's success
led to Kim winning her first-ever Grammy Award, for "Best
Pop Collaboration With Vocals." In addition, the
"Lady Marmalade" companion video clip received the
2001 MTV Video Music Award for "Best Video from a
Film." Alongside her musical career, Kim has served as
spokesmodel for MAC Viva Glam Lipstick, and appeared in ads
for both Candie's Shoes and Iceberg Jeans. She has also
expanded her talents into the acting world, with parts in
She's All That, the Pamela Anderson television series V.I.P.,
and the 2002 comedy, Juwanna Mann.
