CASH
MONEY FOUNDER BABY/BIRDMAN BACK WITH ANOTHER INSTANT CLASSIC
New
York,
NY
- Cash Money Records CEO Bryan "Baby"
Williams, a.k.a. "Birdman,"
returns to the limelight with his second solo effort for Cash
Money/Universal Records, Fast
Money. Due in stores June 21st, the
follow-up to 2002's smash success debut solo album Birdman
finds the immensely talented rapper returning to his signature style
that propelled his first record to platinum-plus success and
beyond.
Fast
Money
showcases stellar collaborations that have become a hallmark for the Birdman.
Featured artists include Lil Wayne ("Shyne
On" and "Neck
of the Wood"),
Bun B ("Ghetto
Life"), Six
Shot ("We
Got That"), and Cash Money starlet Lil'
Mo ("Solid
Chick"). In-house Cash Money master producer
Mannie Fresh also makes
an appearance on the album in his trademark producing/performing
capacity. The duo of Birdman
and Fresh make up the
multi-platinum selling Big Tymers,
appearing on "We
Getting It On" which also showcases Cash Money
songstress Ta.
Fast
Money
has already spawned two hit singles, "Shyne
On" and "Neck
of the Woods," with both songs featuring
Cash Money star and label-mate Lil
Wayne. "Neck
of the Woods" is currently riding high on
mainstream radio. The single is in rotation in Atlanta (WHTA),
Miami (WEDR), New Orleans, and Detroit, among other major markets,
with the video clip in solid rotation on MTV
Jams and BET, as
well as enjoying strong success on regional video shows.
Birdman,
whose rise to the top has fostered a multi-faceted hip-hop
empire, is emblematic of the notion that an enterprising rapper
maintaining the principles of the street can also deliver
unprecedented commercial success. Since the launch of 2002's Birdman, the
artist has also generated a highly successful urban footwear
collection from world-renowned brand Lugz,
as well as narrating a critically acclaimed video game. Midnight
Club 3: Dub Edition (Rockstar Games) not only displayed Cash
Money's music on the soundtrack, but it featured the
celebrated artist providing the game's narration, guiding the players
through the mult-leveld game in the same fashion as movie-like
console games. Hip-hop fans also got a chance to view
the Birdman on the
silver screen in the 2005 movie Beauty
Shop. Despite all the additional activities, the Birdman
has still found time to cultivate the label's younger
talent, most notably as executive producer on Teena
Marie's "La
Doņa."
Cash
Money
has sold over 25 million records worldwide since its inception in
1991, launched as a New Orleans-based hip hop imprint started by Birdman
and his brother Ronald "Slim"
Williams. In a little more than a decade, the label
has unleashed an explosive array of artists, from Lil
Wayne to Teena Marie
to Mannie Fresh and the Big
Tymers, grooming countless other artists and
production entities to never-before-reached heights, as well.
On
June 21st, Cash Money Records and the Birdman
take another step into the future with Fast
Money, adding yet another groundbreaking chapter
to the remarkable Cash Money legacy.
