PRETTY RICKY TEACHES STUDENTS THE
IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC IN FLORIDA

On Thursday May 12th, Atlantic Records, It's Cool To be Smart Single Parent Initiative and the Music Education Group collaborated in the first "Music Appreciation Series" with recording artist group, PRETTY RICKY

The first kick-off of this series was in Jacksonville, Florida at the John E. Ford Elementary School in partnership with Bank of America YMCA. Over 350 students and faculty staff had the opportunity to participate in an open panel discussion that involved numerous questions for the Atlantic recording group. These questions focused on the importance of music in schools and the community. Some of the student panel questions included: Are music classes important for kids in school and why, and what is the GREATEST THING ABOUT BEING A MUSICAL ARTIST? The faculty also had panel questions that included: Was there someone who helped the recording artist in their music career, and what type of music played a major role in the artist life growing up?

Kesha Ellerbee, Outreach Director for YMCA at the Bank of America Tower stated, "The program was a huge success, the students had a GREAT TIME while PRETTY RICKY also enjoyed the school. The teachers were escorted on stage to talk with the group about their own classes; it meant a lot to the students and staff to hear PRETTY RICKY talk to them on the importance of staying in school; having dreams, and staying focused."

Ric Ross, Promotional Manager for Atlantic Records South East Regional Office in Atlanta also stated, "PRETTY RICKY interacted with the entire student body. Even teachers were requesting autographs from the group. I feel that this is a great step for PRETTY RICKY as this experience captures young artists giving back to the community."
