JUELZ SANTANA, SIZZLA, AND DEEMI, TO PERFORM AS PART OF
THE EARS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP "CHRISTMAS FOR KATRINA," TOY DRIVE BENEFITING
DISPLACED HURRICANE KATRINA FAMILIES LIVING IN NEW YORK CITY.
CONCERT SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17TH AT THE SKATE KEY ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX.
The holidays are such a wonderful time to share our blessings with our friends and family, but for the children who have lost everything to Hurricane Katrina, clinging to a doll or teddy bear is their only comfort. The EARS Foundation (a division of the EARS Entertainment Group) who produces LIFEbeat: The Music Industry Fight AIDS' "Hearts & Voices," benefit concert is the organizer of The Christmas For Katrina Toy Drive & Concert Event to be held Saturday, December 17th from 2pm-7pm at The Skate Key Entertainment Complex located at 220 East 138th Street in the Mott Haven section of The Bronx. Performers include Juelz Santana who has the #1 hip-hop album in the country, Reggae superstar, Sizzla, the first reggae artist to be signed to The Dame Dash Music Group, and Dangerous/Family-Ties/ Atlantic Records recording artist, Deemi, "The Hoodz Princess." The toy drive/concert is sponsored by WPRW-FM Power 105.1 and Toys For Tots in conjunction with The American Red Cross, promotional support provided by Trace Magazine.
After producing several successful benefit concerts for LIFEbeat - The Music Industry Fight AIDS, The EARS Foundation is using the same industry connects that brought Kanye West, Carl Thomas, Tony Touch, Nina Sky, Tego Calderon, Aventura, Mario Winans etc. and others the LIFEbeat stage to help the families in New York displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Many of the families displaced from New Orleans are living in the New York area and The EARS Foundation (a division of The EARS Entertainment Group) has partnered with The Red Cross to invite them to The Christmas For Katrina Toy Drive/Concert Event FREE OF CHARGE where they'll be lavished with toys and surrounded by their new New York community.
Tonya Lewis, Chief Operating Office and President of The EARS Entertainment Group, explains why EARS feels this Toy Drive is meaningful, "I watched in horror as the lives of people were stripped away by Hurricane Katrina. I saw the faces of children, clinging to teddy bears and toys who lost everything. Although I gave a financial contribution, the holidays are the hardest time to deal with tragedy and many of these people are separated from their extended families. We wanted to create an event where we, New Yorkers, could bring comfort to these families living in our area. We are extremely grateful that Juelz Santana, Sizzla, and Deemi have joined us in that effort."
General admission is $10 and an unwrapped toy.
